Japanese Bonsai (well almost)

I see that Mother Blog has again prompted me to post. I usually like to wait for something to write about. And something has come about, hence I am now posting...

When The Doctor and I bought our home, the main motivation as I mention in one of my earlier blogs, what that we have a Weeping Cherry Tree (and a protected one at that) behind our garage. Since we have moved in I have been too scared to touch it just in case my green fingers did something too it. As a result it has become quite overgrown and tardy.

So finally The Doctor and I got around to finding someone that can bring this beast back to its beautiful self. Our friendly Arborist visited us today and showed what magic he could perform. Beside this post is a picture of the before and after shots. A transformation that even Jenny Craig would be proud of I'm sure.

In fact my first comment to the Arborist was "it looks just like a bonsai"! His reply was "that is what it is meant to look like" along with a funny look on his face... Well The Doctor and I better not leave it another four years before we attend to our beautiful Weeping Cherry Tree (that unfortunately does not bear any edible cherries)...

Fossell Remains

Today was gardening day and it was much welcomed considering that I missed out last week because of heavy rain.

Our task today was to tidy up the back area of our house and after our hard work I came across something that archaeologists might find interesting. I wonder what prehistoric animal had been peering over my fence to our next door neighbour's back yard?

Well let me put this question to rest. Our kind neighbours (not over this fence) has had Ivy growing for many years and Ivy does it grows and latches itself on everything. I only wish there was something I could feed it that would make it go away. Maybe it likes Vinegar?

Anyway, my gardener with his trusty hedge trimmer made light work of separating the Ivy from its holding place. I just hope that it won't grow back to is former glory overnight

Below is a picture of various stages our backyard has taken over the years. It is a rather difficult area, it only receives the sun for a couple of hours in the morning, there is not much space and the only time I go around there is to look at the disarray its in. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to leave a comment for me.

Sunday night TV

I generally do not watch much TV apart from my favourite shows; and they consist of Suze Orman, Better Homes and Gardens and those of similar genre. However as The Doctor is currently in Taiwan, I checked out what is on the box this Sunday night.

I remember in Australia that they use to have a reasonably recent movie on Sunday night, but alas not so in Aotearoa. Even with TV that we pay for, the most interesting thing that I can find is about a Killer Whale family and the going ons of a particular mischievous child called Delphine. I wonder what the mother uses as inspiration for the names she gives her children???

Anyway for the last hour I have seen poor Delphine learn to beach herself, catch and how to eat a seal, also how to catch and eat a king penguin and the importance of family. There even seems to be punishment by the mother when Delphine talks when she is not suppose to. Here I thought that us humans lived in a society with rules and punishment.

Anyway I came across another photo that I have forgotten about, luckily for me that I am not in their territory as I'm sure I would be dinner.
