Australia versus New Zealand...

In the supermarket yesterday, it was interesting to note that milk powder from both Australia and New Zealand were put on display at the aisle end side by side.

Both tins were for approximately the same quantity and yet the price difference was notable. The price on the left is for the New Zealand milk powder and the price on the right is for the Australian.

At first glance it would appear that the Australian would be better quality; however thinking about it further, I suspect that as the New Zealand dollar is cheaper to buy and that is why the New Zealand product is cheaper. But what I ponder about; does the Taiwanese shopper really know that their Taiwanese Dollar can buy more Kiwi dollars than Aussie?

On a slightly different note, when the Doctor and I travel around, we see many different signs and their English translation. Some of them are not entirely correct as I alluded to in a previous posting, however the Doctor likes to take a photo and show his classes about the delicate nature of English translation. The photo to the left was taken in a Japanese department store.

I can see work ahead of me, not in teaching English but the use of Spell Checker on the computer.

Till next time, haveagoodone...
